Cristiano Ronaldo will rejoin former Manchester United teammate David de Gea at Al Nassr, who is thought to be keen on signing him.
De Gea became a free agent when his contract with Manchester United terminated in June. The club had been in talks with the Spaniard for a long time but could not reach an agreement on conditions.
United let his contract lapse before signing Andre Onana as their new No. 1 custodian, with De Gea releasing an emotional statement on his departure.
That occurred on July 8, but De Gea is still without a club a month later. However, there are still options for the former Atletico Madrid player.
According to MARCA, Real Madrid had considered finally purchasing De Gea when it was revealed that Thibaut Courtois had damaged his ACL.
Instead, they will sign Chelsea loanee Kepa Arrizabalaga. Bayern Munich, who just let Yann Sommer go for Inter Milan and have regular custodian Manuel Neuer sidelined due to a fractured leg suffered while skiing in December is also interested in the 32-year-old.
Al Nassr, on the other hand, is pushing hard for De Gea and wants him to be their first-choice custodian for the new season.
The transfer market for Saudi clubs remains open until September 20, when De Gea must commit to Nassr.
If he decides to relocate to the Middle East, he will be reunited with Ronaldo and Alex Telles, with whom he shared a changing room at United.
To win the SPL, Luis Castro’s squad has also signed Sadio Mane and Marcelo Brozovic.
Last season, they finished second to Al Ittihad, but they won the Arab Club Champions Cup on Saturday thanks to a brace from Ronaldo in a 2-1 win over Al Hilal.
