Al Taawoun FC: Once at the verge of relegation to table toppers

Here, we Proleaguefootballsaudi.com try to analyze one of the surprise table toppers till now in this season of Saudi Professional Leage the team Al Taawoun FC.

Al Taawoun FC is a professional football club based in Buraidah, Saudi Arabia. Al Taawoun were founded in 1956 and have reached the final of the King Cup once, in 1990. The club’s best ever top flight season came in 2015–16 when they finished in fourth place in the top division, their highest league position to date.

The team plays their home games at King Abdullah Sport City Stadium in Buraidah, sharing the stadium with city rivals Al-Raed. The two clubs contest the Qasim Derby, which is one of the most fiercely contested derbies in Saudi Arabian football.

League Standing:

Currently Al Tawoon FC with 19 points is positioned in third place in Saudi Pro League standing. They have won six of the eight matches played till date this season while have drawn one and lost just one game. But it was not the same all these years-

Year 2019-20 we saw poorest performances by Al-Taawon in league history. Al-Taawoun’s King Cup victory the previous year secured their place in the 2019 Super Cup. After an extra-time draw of 1-1, Al-Taawoun fell to Al-Nasser 4-5 on penalties. The game was extremely tense and remained tied until the 91st minute when Mohammad Al-Sahlawi converted a cross with a tap-in to make it 1-0 and avoid relegation in the final minutes of the season. The team was almost relegated and needed a win against relegation threatened Al-Fayha.

The team is currently managed by Brazilian Péricles Chamusca. The club’s most notable players include Mateus, Sattam Al Roqi, Musa Barrow, Andrei Girotto

Al Taawoun are a well-respected club in Saudi Arabia and have a large and passionate fan base. The club is known for its attacking style of play and its commitment to developing young players.

Al Taawoun the Wolves

Key Players

The team is well-balanced and has a number of talented players, including Saudi Arabia internationals Abdulmajeed Al-Sulaiheem and Hassan Tambakti, as well as Brazilian midfielder Leandro Souza. Al Taawoun are also known for their attacking style of play, having scored 16 goals in their first 7 league games.

However, the team does have some weaknesses. Their defense has been inconsistent at times and they have conceded 9 goals in their first 7 league games. Additionally, the team lacks experience at the highest level, with many of their players having never played in the AFC Champions League or at a major international tournament.

Overall, I would rate Al Taawoun’s playing team as a good one. They have a number of talented players and a good attacking style of play. However, they do have some weaknesses, particularly in defense and in terms of experience.

I would expect Al Taawoun FC to challenge for a top-4 finish in the Saudi Professional League this season. They are also capable of making a good run in the AFC Champions League, but they will need to improve their defensive record and gain some more experience at the highest level.

Al Taawoun: Strength and Weakness

Based on my analysis of Al Taawoun’s strengths and weaknesses, I believe that the following are the areas that the team needs to focus on to improve their performance:

  • Defensive solidity: Al Taawoun have conceded 7 goals in their first 8 league games this season, which is too many for a team that wants to challenge for a top-4 finish. The team needs to improve their concentration and organization in defense, and they also need to be more solid at set-pieces.
  • Lack of experience: Al Taawoun have a young and talented squad, but many of their players lack experience at the highest level. This could be a problem in the big games against the top teams in the Saudi Professional League and the AFC Champions League. The team needs to find a way to get more experience into their team, either by signing more experienced players or by giving their younger players more playing time.
  • Mental toughness: Al Taawoun have a tendency to crumble under pressure, as they have shown in a number of big games in recent years. The team needs to develop a stronger mental toughness if they want to be successful in the long term. This can be done through individual and team counseling, as well as by playing in more big games and learning from their mistakes.

Takeaway

I believe that if Al Taawoun can address these areas, they have the potential to be a very good team. They have a number of talented players, a good attacking style of play, and a good manager in Péricles Chamusca. However, they need to improve their defensive solidity, gain more experience, and develop a stronger mental toughness if they want to be successful in the long term.

At Proleaguefootballsaudi.com, we wish Al Taawoun the best for the rest of the season and may they hold on to and improve there table position.
